Computer Services & Rules

Internet Use:

All persons using the Internet work station must sign in at the front desk, listing

    name, address, and phone number, along with the date and time.

 

 

 

 

DISCLAIMER REGARDING INTERNET RESOURCES:

The Internet and its available resources contain a wide variety of material and

    opinions from varied points of view.  In offering Internet access, library staff

    cannot control access points which often change rapidly and unpredictably.

A user who registers with a Web-based e-mail service assumes sole responsibility.

    The library, its board, and the City of Lovington are not responsible for e-mail

    transmissions sent, received, or failed.  Nor are they responsible for user names,

    passwords, or any violation in the use of Web-based e-mail services.  The

    library's Internet work stations must not be used to transmit information which

    violates the library's policies.

 

 

WORD PROCESSING:

Use of word processing applications is limited to junior high students and older,

    unless accompanied by someone who can assist the younger individual.

   

 

OTHER AVAILABLE SOFTWARE:   

A variety of computer programs are available, including reference information and

    children's software.  

 

 

 

TIME LIMITS AND RESERVATIONS:          

If there is no one waiting, there is no time limit.

If computer is in use a reservation will be made, good for 30 minutes of use.

    There is a limit of one 30 minute session per day, per person.  User is

    responsible for beginning reserved session on time.

Advanced reservations for word processing will be made by the hour.  Users are

    limited to one 1-hour reservation for word processing per day.  User is responsible

    for beginning reserved session on time.  Walk-in use of word processing may be

    limited to thirty minutes.

 

 

 

 

PRINTING:

Fee for printing is 10 cents for each page.

Fee for printing a full-page graphic or illustration is $1.00 per page.

The library is not responsible for printing failures or loss of data.

 

 

 

SAVING DATA:

No data may be stored on the hard drive.

In order to maintain the security of the library's computers, ALL unpackaged

    diskettes brought into the library must be scanned.

Users may save data only to a diskette purchased from the library for $1.00.

    Diskettes used in the library's computers may be kept on file at the library and

    be re-used for up to six months.
